Serbia second-to-last in Europe by income from medical and spa tourism
Income from medical tourism in Serbia are significantly lower than in the EU and neighboring countries which, compared to Serbia, have lower number of spas, mountain resorts and thermo mineral sources. This is a consequence of several decades of bad management of spa, mountain and other natural resources and capacities.
Business Support Network compared the data of World Tourism Organization, EUROSTAT and several European associations for spa and medical tourism with the information on the income of tourism and catering sector in domestic spa centers, mountain resorts and other centers for care and rehabilitation.
The results show that, even though the development of medical and spa tourism is a huge potential for the development of our country and opening of new workplaces, Serbia has very weak results in this area.
