Minimum wage increases to 121 RSD in 2015
On Monday, Government of Serbia decided that the minimum hourly wage in 2015 will be increased by 5 percent, to 121 RSD (approx. 1.01 EUR) per hour.
This is a first increase of minimum wage since 2012. The new values of minimum wage are summed up in the table below, in national currency, as well as in EUR and USD, using the current exchange rate.
Net wage | Gross Wage | Total employer expense | |
RSD | 21.054,0 | 28.431,0 | 33.520,0 |
EUR | 177,0 | 239,0 | 282,0 |
USD | 223,3 | 301,5 | 355,5 |
This increase still makes Serbia one of the countries with lowest minimum wages in Europe. However, this increase, along with the predicted reduction of average wage due to salary cuts in the public sector, means that the minimum wage will reach the level of approximately 50% of average wage, making future increases challenging.
