Funeral Services may be Provided by Private Entrepreneurs

After one year of partnership and joint efforts of Business Support Network and its member, Association of Private Funeral Services Provider of Serbia for the amendments to the Law on Public Utility Services, which so far prohibited private companies in Serbia to provide funeral services, the Government decided to adopt European practice, abolish the monopoly in the sector and secure equal market treatment to private and public enterprises.

In this manner, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia has given a proposal for the drafting of the new Law on Public Utility Services that includes not only the demands of the private funeral services providers, but also the recommendations of the Commission for Protection of Competition of the Republic of Serbia and the EU Delegation in Serbia. The most benefits will be received by the citizens, who will be able to choose freely the service provider in the market, choosing by price and quality.
